I have a large number of sea and coastal photographs in my personal archive, and wanted to explore ways of portraying some of the feelings and memories these inspired.

The resulting series of paintings are all on 30 x 30cm stretched canvas. In most cases I started with a background of acrylic spray paint, fairly thin so that some of the white of the canvas could show through. I then worked with transparent or opaque oils mixed with Liquin medium and diluted with Zest-it solvent in varying proportions, allowing the paint to run and mix and move until I got a satisfying effect., [which might or might not resemble the original photo!].
