These Sherwood Forest tree paintings were inspired by a walk on a dark New Year's Day. The oaks are amoung the oldest in Europe, including the huge Major Oak, said to have sheltered Robin Hood [unlikely, as it would have been little more than a sapling in the 12th - 13th centuary].
My photos were predictably dull but useful for the wonderful shapes; the colours cameĀ from my past experience and imagination.
